The idea for Swartz Foods came from the need to have more fun with friends and family and spend less time schlepping cooking stuff around when we are camping or hiking. We used to bring a staggering amount of equipment with us to set up camp and make huge meals for the whole group which sometimes was upwards of 50 people. (We had an entire kitchen setup at one point.) As you can imagine this was a lot of work not only to make delicious food but to keep it cold and safe to eat. We also had to do dishes forever! Over the years we tried to evolve and dehydrate which was good but not great as it was still on the heavy side, the flavor suffered and it was super time consuming. So, after much planning, research, saving, and some generous donations from family, the freeze dryers were born! It has been a super fun time cooking and eating all the samples with friends and family and will continue to be as we expand. We are truly grateful and blessed for this opportunity and hope you enjoy them and grow with us! Also, I am happy I can pad my own pack with lightweight snacks lol!
About The Food
The food will come packaged in either the large thicker mylar bag for boiling to rehydrate meals or the smaller, thinner mylar for snacks. Both bags are sealed and have a gusset on the bottom for space and to stand up on their own. They also have a zipper to be resealed. The meals will have a 20-25 year shelf life unopened and the snacks will be 4-6 months unopened.
